Back in the spring it was the phrase that Ibrox fans rallied around and lung onto.

Led in the media by intellectual giants like Tom English and Ale Rae, every other option was trashed as they waited on word that the 2019/20 season had been declared NULL AND VOID.

With Celtic 13 points clear at the top of the SPFL Premiership table with just eight matches left to be played it was the only way of stopping the second 9-in-a-row that they had dreaded.

As the weeks passed and leagues elsewhere such as in France and Belgium were called on Points Per Game the desperation for NULL AND VOID grew.

The three lower leagues in Scotland were called on PPG with Dundee United promoted to the top flight while interest suddenly grew over the fate of Partick Thistle and Stranraer.

An incredible media campaign was launched to prevent the Premiership being awarded on the same basis, every Saturday afternoon English banged the drum on Radio Scotland with no other opinion aired. Later in the year BBC Scotland ran a so-called Inside Story on how the season had played out for Hearts. Craig Levein joined the usual suspects as a pundit.

Finally, with prize money to be awarded and European places to be allocated the calls for NULL AND VOID were sunk. All clubs voted to decide the season on PPG. The same voices are now dreading that option with the season barely past the halfway stage.
