Neil Lennon has delivered an incredible defence of Celtic’s trip to Dubai- less than a week after Peter Lawwell apologised for the trip which has resulted in two positive tests, 13 players self isolating as well as Lennon and John Kennedy.
It was an incredible performance from the Celtic manager who was speaking to the media for the first time since the 1-0 defeat at Ibrox on January 2.
Lennon didn’t miss out anyone as he attacked the media, pundits and Government ministers over what he regards as hypocrisy with the hoops boss also defiant over having a little drink on a day off.
Without question it was one of the most dramatic media conferences that Lennon has ever delivered.
After a full week at home he has had time to gather his thoughts with a number of issues coming to the fore that he clearly felt very angry about.
Last Wednesday Peter Lawwell said that with hindsight the Dubai trip was a mistake which he apologised for, Lennon is scheduled to be back in the dug out for Wednesday’s match away to Livingston.

Neil Lennon also says he feels noone else is due an apology from @CelticFC for the Dubai trip except the club’s supporters, and that the decision to go was his ; and that it should therefore have been him and not Peter Lawwell who should have apologised

More bad news for @CelticFC ; they have another Covid case. One of the players who was self-isolating after the trip to Dubai has tested positive for the virus. Neil Lennon has rounded on the club’s critics, accusing them of ‘a barrage of hypocrisy’

“We had a little drink in the afternoon on a day off, completely allowed, no law-breaking yet we come back to this barrage of absolute hypocrisy.”

“…by certain quarters of the media ; by certain pundits and by certain Government officials as well. We did not abuse any ‘privilege’ ; we did the right things ; we were absolutely totally professional….”

This is @CelticFC manager Neil Lennon’s take on the reaction to the Dubai training trip : “The whole squad is negative bar two players. I think that is remarkable and I think it totally blows out of the water the way the training camp has been portrayed…”
