Celtic fans weren’t impressed when they found out that Peter Martin was on commentary for last night’s match against Hamilton Accies.

At the start of the season they were promised a top-class product on their Passport to Paradise with Rory Hamilton on commentary as part of the production package from Sunset and Vine.

Post Dubai it was Martin on the microphone for the matches against Hibs and Livingston, that arrangement now seems to be permanent with many Season Ticket holders less than impressed.

For a decade or so Martin entertained listeners to Radio Clyde’s Super Scoreboard with a saturation Old Firm diet alongside Derek Johnstone.

These days he hosts an online chat show that features guests such as Steven Naismith and Charlie Adam before he puts on his Celtic hat to turn the most average of performances into some sort of masterclass.

A few times last night he hinted at a ‘winnable’ run of fixtures coming up which probably overlooked the fact that last night was just the seventh win in 23 matches for Neil Lennon’s side. The first of those fixtures is at home to St Mirren on Saturday, earlier on Wednesday Jim Goodwin’s side had won 5-1 away to Dundee United.

Celtic fans appreciate reality, their team being discussed in an even-handed manner, not someone talking down to them pretending that the garden is rosy with a corner about to be turned.
