Stephen McGowan tried his best but with many Celtic fans wishing for a change of management Twitter set off on a chain reaction.

On Thursday morning the Daily Mail reporter had caused a stir with his story that Celtic had put their u-18 side onto Furlough the week after paying for a five star trip to a world class facility in Dubai.

At some stage on Thursday someone decided to put together a McGowan Stephen Twitter account using the same images that the Real McCoy has on his Twitter account.

That prompted the account of the Daily Mail reporter to change his main image but by late on Thursday a variety of little known accounts were claiming to be In The Know with word on Lennon’s sacking and the likely appointment of Eddie Howe.

Gavin Strachan is expected to take today’s media conference to preview the match against Hibs but as they’ve shown in recent months there seems to be no inclination to remove Lennon although a managerial review has been promised for the new year.

The cynical will note the time frame as the new year rather than January, CLICK HERE for that Celtic statement.
