Celtic are reported to be in talks with Ben Pearson of Preston over a pre-contract deal with the midfielder out of contract in the summer.
Team-mate Ben Davies has been linked with Celtic since the summer but according to Anthony Joseph it is the 25-year-old midfielder that is capturing Celtic’s attention.
At the moment Celtic seem to be well off for midfielders but with Scott Brown turning 36 in June alongside the contracts of Ryan Christie and Olivier Ntcham (both on deals till June 2022) running down it is an area that Celtic will have to address.

Pearson joined Preston in June 2016 after being released by Manchester United following two loan spells at Derby. With over 150 appearances in The Championship he clearly knows his way around the game.
Celtic have an edge over English clubs in being able to offer a pre-contract deal but Pearson could hold out until the summer and sign as a free agent for any English club. So far this season he has made 11 appearances for Preston but the last one was on December 5 at home to Wycombe.
