On Friday morning a little known Celtic Twitter account put out what seemed to be a simple tweet. Perhaps it could have been worded a little better but within 24 hours it had attracted 350 replies.
Celtic fans are asking many questions at the moment, with just 1,300 followers Celtic_Bhoy1888 asked if Roy Keane was the answer.
It seems unlikely but not impossible that Neil Lennon will be in charge next season, few fans can put up any genuine case for keeping the former Hibs boss in charge with the majority wanting to see a new manager, chief executive and outlook.
One name that will never be far from the thoughts of Celtic’s decision makers is Roy Keane, it’s generally acknowledged that he was very close to taking over from Lennon in 2014 but backed away as Ronny Deila took control, for two seasons.
In his first management job at Sunderland Keane was exceptional, exactly what the club needed rocketing relegation strugglers to promotion with Stan Varga and Ross Wallace recruited from his Celtic contact book.
Since then his spells in management at Ipswich, Aston Villa and Ireland have created explosive stories of fall-outs and worse with players, at Ireland he had Martin O’Neill trying to reign in his excesses.
Over the last two years Keane has been compulsive viewing as a television pundit, firing off as an angry old pro while those around them try to build media careers without upsetting their pals still in the game.
It is highly doubtful that Keane’s old school anger and drive will succeed in the dressing rooms of 2021, it’ll be interesting to watch if he does return to management but it is a definite No from most Celtic fans on a return to their club.
Ralf Rangnick, the former RB Leipzig coach is the name that continues to crop up from supporters, a check into his background would suggest that his management style is the complete opposite of Keane.
for the record its 100% no from me bye the way!

Same negative comments were made about moyes getting the job before Lennon was announced, keane and two top quality coaches I’d be happy, the supporters of Lennon FC shouldn’t panic he will be here probably next season as well ??????

If the question is: Who is the last man you would want being manager of Celtic.

If Roy Keane is the answer then you are definitely asking the wrong question…

I wouldn’t want him as 1st or even 3rd choice but he’s be an improvement on Lennon on so many levels in terms of fitness, standards and will to win

100% no. People need to get away from the Irish Celtic connection rubbish. There are no good candidates available using these things.
Our new manager should be an experienced manager who’s worked at the top level and had history of setting up a clubs future. Ralf Rangnick— Ross Menzies (@BigRossM28) January 15, 2021
Graham. RK will be a bridge. A mate of DD and JP plus a Celtic fan. The investment community will Q but told he is a carry till right man arrives. Scotland has 2 CL qualification places for next two seasons so no further harm done.

Think he would do good for a season but he’s not the person for the rebuilding that we need. We need someone with a vision for 3,4,5 years down the line.

Ralf Rangnick he’s done it everywhere he has been.

I don’t imagine Roy Keane is a viable option for any club now. He would rip players to bits (quite rightly so sometimes) but wouldn’t last 2 minutes with the power players have nowadays.

As much as I admire the man it would very quickly become less about Celtic and more “The Keane Show” ….for what it’s worth id love to see Eddie Howe in charge ..
I also wish £50 notes grew on trees though …— G1916R (@GaryRussell1916) January 15, 2021
Oh dear god no, we need a change of direction, BR brought professionalism and a structure, he also got the best out of lots of players
Celtic need to look at smaller clubs that do well in Europe, they don’t waste money in the same way we do
CEO highest paid?

I’d take Keano with someone behind him or if he was the No2. Him and O’Neill would be very interesting
