Anthony Joseph of Sky Sports has pulled up Tom English over a condescending comment on Dundee United’s new analyst Manish Pandey.

The 17-year-old from India has landed a job assessing potential transfer targets by United who are funded by match tickets, sponsorships and transfer fees. Joseph picks up a salary from Sky Sports subscribers and advertisers while English gets by from the BBC Licence Fee.

English is from the old school world of print newspapers, before he left Scotland on Sunday he was the last reporter standing still to back Craig Whyte while the former billionaire was in charge of the old Rangers club.

With the state broadcaster he’ll be about to share his expert views on egg-chasing which is apparently the sport that he specialises in although since no one in Scotland is really interested his views go largely uncontested.

With BBC Scotland he finds himself surrounded by experts such as Steven Thompson, Billy Dodds and Neil McCann who can share soccer views him. Two of that trio have failed in football management while the other opted to avoid that side of the game.

Perhaps bringing in someone like Pandey might help freshen up football coverage at BBC Scotland rather than sharing the predictable thoughts of their old boy network.
