Chris Sutton echoed the thoughts of many Celtic fans as they watched the goals rattle into the St Mirren net. Too little too late.

For the second midweek running Neil Lennon’s side scored four times on the road but with an 18 point gap at the top of the SPFL table the result was largely academic.

Neil Lennon went with the same side that beat Motherwell 2-1 at the weekend and got a 90 minute performance out of his side with three goals in four minutes late on in the second half.

Tom Rogic and David Turnbull were the contenders for the Man of the Match award with both midfielders on the scoresheet.

The Australian created space 15 yards from goal in the 16th minute and curled his shot around Jak Alnwick into the net.

Odsonne Edouard doubled the lead from the penalty spot after Greg Taylor was fouled which opened the floodgates with Ryan Christie and Turnbull adding to a good night’s work for the hoops in Paisley.
