Ibrox fans reacted with fury today after a sub-editor at The Sun decided to split the word hunger with a hyphen in the headline for a story from Brian Rice.
The Hamilton boss was praising the determination of Steven Gerrard’s squad but easily offended fans took to Social Media at what they viewed as a sectarian insult!
After a flurry of complaints the headline was changed from HUN-GER to hungry but that wasn’t enough for some fans who want to see action taken against Scotland’s best-selling newspaper.
The outrage comes less than a fortnight after Ofcom were contacted about a comment made by Irvine Welsh on Hibs TV during a match shown live by Sky Sports.
Despite an apology from Hibs to the visiting club the matter is being investigated by the SFA who requested a copy of the offensive half-time discussion.
This is shockingly bad! @RangersFC @RangersFCSLO Greg do you know if the club are looking into this bigoted and sectarian headline? pic.twitter.com/BKVPhgbcN5

Enough is enough of this .
That rag should never set foot in our stadium again ( zoom at the moment )
I am sure our manager will take great pleasure in doing this himself .— rangersted (@rangersted) February 8, 2021
Blatant sectarianism. Sun should be banned from Ibrox and the training ground. Completely out of order.

They’ve changed the name now to “ hungry for success “

Appalling but it’s The Sun so not entirely surprising
