Martin O’Neill gave McManus his first team debut but it was under Gordon Strachan that he made the breakthrough, when Neil Lennon left for Nottingham Forest in 2007 McManus took over as captain for two seasons under Gordon Strachan.
It was Strachan that took the defender to Middlesbrough before he returned to Scotland at Motherwell where he took his first steps in coaching.
Kennedy, McManus and Gavin Strachan will be in charge for the first time against Aberdeen tomorrow.
