Celtic are ready to appeal against two match suspension handed out to Albian Ajeti.

The decision was announced by the SFA this afternoon in relation to the penalty that Celtic were awarded in their 4-0 win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

Chasing a ball towards the bye-line Ajeti was sent tumbling by goalkeeper Colin Doyle with referee Kevin Clancy pointing to the penalty spot.

The incident was covered in detail by the cameras of Sky Sports with Andy Walker, Kris Boyd and James McFadden all passing comment.

It was the sort of incident that happens in most matches with most fans and pundits reacting with the phrase ‘seen them given’

Getting the inside track from Celtic, Glasgow Times reports:

HeraldSport understands that Celtic will contest the charge though, which will now go to a fast-track hearing scheduled for February 8th.

A three-man panel of former Grade One referees reviewed the incident, and cited Ajeti under the rule stating: “No player shall cause a match official to make an incorrect decision and/or support an error of judgment on the part of a match official by an act of simulation which results in that player’s team obtaining a Substantial Advantage.”

By putting in an appeal Ajeti is freed up to play against Motherwell on Saturday with Neil Lennon expected to meet the media at lunchtime tomorrow.

The former West Ham striker scored his first goal in four months at Rugby Park with Lennon looking to build on his partnership with Odsonne Edouard.
