The Celtic Trust will meet with the PLC board next week (February 17) as fans push for change and demand answers over a season that has gone disastrously wrong.

At the start of December the club announced that they would undergo a managerial review in the new year but two months later there has been no follow up on the matter.

The Trust met with Celtic before Christmas but since then the club has suffered the backlash of a training trip to Dubai with Peter Lawwell announcing that he will retire at the end of June.

Celtic Fanzine reports:

The Celtic Trust  has been critical of the board’s ‘stale, male and pale’ make-up. The invisible chairman, Ian Bankier, has been in post for almost a decade and there have been no meetings of the nominations committee in the last twelve months to even consider whether new blood and thinking is required in the Celtic boardroom.

“It is apparent there has been a stagnation at board level in Celtic PLC over a number of years,” Jeanette said, “and – while the announcement that the CEO will be retiring at the end of the season is a step in the right direction – a shake-up is long overdue for anyone with a passing knowledge of good corporate governance standards.”

More than 200 members and shareholders of the Celtic Trust attended the online meeting held on 26 January 2021. The Trust will meet the PLC board to discuss these matters on 17 February.

There are certainly plenty of issues to discuss with the Board aware that they will soon have to turn to supporters to buy Season Tickets for the 21/22 campaign.

Going by Social Media there is open hostility to the club from many fans, every tweet is greeted by a flood of replies featuring a No Entry sign superimposed on an image of Neil Lennon.

Incoming CEO has a massive task to take on board but until July 1 he will be at arms length as the club tries to salvage something on the park and rebuild relationships with disillusioned fans.
