Chris Sutton has claimed that no Celtic fan wants Neil Lennon to stay.

Twenty years ago the two men were side by side in Martin O’Neill’s Celtic side but results this season has left the relationship strained.

Around the turn of the year Sutton admitted that the job had gone beyond Lennon’s capabilities, repeating comments that had been made by John Hartson and Stan Petrov.

As Celtic drifted further and further away in the title race Lennon has simply doubled down, speaking to BBC Scotland last night he claimed that he was the man to handle the summer rebuild.

Sutton thought otherwise, picking up on his comments on BBC Five Live, the Daily Record reports:

Well it’s embarrassing. It’s been a really embarrassing season for Celtic, a shocking season. Ross County are at the bottom and to lose to them… Things aren’t getting any better.

Just looking across social media, the majority of Celtic fans are saying Lennon must go. You have Rangers fans saying Lennon – ‘Can he stay?’ But it’s overwhelming, no Celtic fan wants Neil Lennon to stay.

In December Celtic announced a managerial review which was apparently answered last week by Chairman Ian Bankier. Lennon is on a 12 month rolling contract, taking up the job on a permanent basis in May 2019.
