Dan Petrescu is again being quoted as a candidate to become Celtic manager.

Following Neil Lennon’s exit this morning managers and coaches across Europe will be getting linked with the job which just five years ago attracted Brendan Rodgers to rebound back from Liverpool.

Petrescu should be well known to Celtic from four clashes with Cluj last season with the Romanian side inflicting a painful blow in the 2019 Champions League qualifiers.

The 53-year-old enjoyed stints at Sheffield Wednesday and Chelsea during his playing days and has almost 20 years experience in management.

Longari is a Milan based TV presenter with 58,000 followers on Twitter.

Intriguingly Petrescu has just left Turkish side Kayserispor after just 45 days in charge, the timing of  this and Lennon’s departure from Celtic may or may not be a coincidence.

In 2009/10 Petrescu took Unirea Urziceni into the Champions League where he enjoyed a memorable 4-1 win at Ibrox over the wily old fox that is Walter Smith.
