Ewan Henderson set for move

Dundee have made an offer to take Ewan Henderson on loan until the end of the season.

The midfielder has been restricted to just three substitute appearances this season and looks unlikely to get the run of matches under Neil Lennon that his career needs.

Although the transfer window closed on Monday SPFL clubs can take on a Development Loan which appears to open up the perfect solution for Henderson and Celtic.

Discussing Henderson, The Courier reports:

Dundee are hoping to bring in highly-rated Celtic midfielder Ewan Henderson on loan. It’s understood the Dark Blues have moved to bolster their central midfield options and await a decision from the Hoops on the 20-year-old.

It’s understood the Dark Blues have moved to bolster their central midfield options and await a decision from the Hoops on the 20-year-old. Championship clubs, along with Leagues One and Two, can still sign players on loan until the end of February despite the transfer window closing on Monday night.

A Scotland U/21 international, Henderson has featured 11 times for Celtic, including in the Champions League and Europa League. However, he has only made three substitute appearances this season and the Parkhead club are keen for their man to get much-needed first-team football.

Henderson was given a couple of games under Brendan Rodgers, playing in his final match against Motherwell two years ago followed by Lennon’s opener away to Hearts a few days later.

Competition for places has been ferocious in the Celtic midfield with David Turnbull and Ismaila Soro making the breakthrough this season.

Last night at Kilmarnock Scott Brown returned to the starting XI with Tom Rogic an unused substitute. Celtic also have Luca Connell available to play in midfield.
