Neil Lennon has admitted that he can’t do it for them (the Celtic players).

The former Bolton boss was speaking after watching his side lose the only goal of the game to Ross County from a set piece that fans have watched many times this season.

Since the turn of the year Hibs and Livingston have found that popping a free kick into the centre of the Celtic penalty box is a short cut to a scoring chance that will more often than not be converted.

Just a week ago St Johnstone popped in a cross, not a free kick, with Shaun Rooney outjumping Greg Taylor and Callum McGregor to head untroubled past Scott Bain.

Last night Jordan White was the beneficiary as the tallest player in the County side netted with Diego Laxalt making some strange moves while Scott Brown stood in isolation.

Yeah, it’s a strange one, it’s a game that we should have won out of sight. I think that it encapsulates the season really. We’ve dominated the game, dominated the chances. They’re not like half chances, they’re like guilt edged and then we have conceded another set-play which has been a real weakness for us this season. It’s really, really poor.

And the build up to how Ross County got the free kick from us as well so our decision making has not been good in that moment but overall we came here and won 5-0 and we didn’t play half as well as we did tonight. You know, that’s football sometimes.

So I think that game encapsulates our season, I CAN’T DO IT FOR THEM. It wasn’t a problem for us last season but it has been a real problem this season.

More or less the same personnel. You want to come out and head the ball, block runners. I don’t see us getting any free headers in the opposition box but I’ve seen it plenty of times from us this season, it’s just not been good enough.

Little of what Lennon said stands upto scrutiny. Jonjoe Kenny and Laxalt weren’t part of last season’s personnel, Stephen Welsh made one SPFL appearance, Scott Bain two with Kris Ajer playing in 28 of the 30 matches.
