With a virtual media black-out the events of Saturday night and Sunday morning in Hayburn Lane are becoming even more mysterious.

As Social Media rumours developed through Sunday the names of two Ibrox starlets were fairly consistent, almost ever-present in the gossip and rumours but only The Athletic decided to name them. Several players was the term used by most other publishers.

Following what was meant to be a holding/deflection statement from the club on Sunday night the issue was brought up at the First Minister’s Monday media conference but since then the story has been buried.

Late on Tuesday afternoon an update appeared on the Follow Follow Message-board from the site administrator. That Message-board is very much on message with matchday access and interviews with various club employees.

With 10 Fixed Penalty notices issued by Police Scotland it now seems that five players were involved in the illegal gathering.

With the SFA and SPFL looking the other way some unfortunate timing means that Steven Gerrard’s squad are involved in the Europa League this week with testing carried out by UEFA rather than a friendly local firm happy to deliver the required results.

UEFA will test the entire travelling party once they arrive in Belgium and again before the match. The same protocols will apply for next week’s second leg.

Rather than the usual in-house Zoom conference call involving ‘Hi Steven’ or ‘Good Morning Steven’ there could be some left-field questions later today from inquisitive Belgian reporters.
