Jim Goodwin has called on certain individuals to be named and shamed- but avoided naming who it might be.

The St Mirren boss was mulling over the fall out of his side’s 4-0 defeat from Celtic in midweek with a media fuss simmering around Celtic’s second goal scored by Odsonne Edouard from the penalty spot.

As Greg Taylor raced onto a pass Ryan Flynn raised his hands to the shoulders of the Celtic full-back with referee Don Robertson pointing to the penalty spot.

With Flynn making no attempt to play the ball some officials might have decided that he should be sent off but Goodwin decided to wade in with some not so cryptic references to Taylor.

Following up on Wednesday’s defeat from Celtic, The Sun reports:

Today, though, St Mirren boss Goodwin said he “can’t understand” the mentality of players who go to ground at the merest touch – comments which appeared to be aimed at Taylor. And he said it was time “to start naming and shaming” individuals in our game for such antics.

He said: “I can’t understand how players can fall over when someone touches their shoulder. It seems to be certain individuals. We need to start naming and shaming. I’d be embarrassed if I was some of these players.”

Tomorrow St Mirren are away to Aberdeen without three key players. Eamonn Brophy is out for the rest of the season after being signed with a foot injury, Jamie McGrath has a suspected dislocated shoulder with Kristian Dennis expected to be missing for a month.
