Radio Clyde have had their co-operation with Ibrox withdrawn after they got upset by a comment made on Super Scoreboard by a reporter from The Sun.

Despite the fawning coverage given to Mister Gerrard’s side this season it seems that the new PR regime inside the club are growing very sensitive as Hibs discovered over the comments by Irvine Welsh.

These days the withdrawal of co-operation means that Clyde aren’t given a log in to the Zoom Conference calls to Mister Gerrard and a player to preview matches.

Fan Media has been increasingly preferred this season with PR guru David Graham previously a regular guest on the Heart and Hand podcast hosted by David Edgar.

Unlike media conferences at other clubs most questions delivered in the Ibrox Zoom start with a ‘Hi Steven’ or ‘Good Morning Steven’.

Covering the issue with Radio Clyde, whose Head of News and Sport Lorraine Herbison was schooled at Ballymena Academy, Tribute Act website ‘Rangers News’ reports:

Rangers withdrew co-operation with leading Scottish radio station Radio Clyde after the match with Hamilton over comments made by a pundit on popular phone-in show Superscoreboard.

That’s according to club insider and Heart & Hand host David Edgar who says he is “delighted” with the approach the club are taking to vexatious reporting in the Scottish sports press.

Touching on the Scottish Sun’s offensive headline story – read more HERE – Edgar also revealed that the club have bitten back against another two publications for their coverage.

“You may have noticed the club didn’t speak to Radio Clyde yesterday,” said Heart & Hand host David Edgar [Daily Update 08/02/21]. There was no interview with the gaffer. That was due to something Roger Hannah said on Saturday night (06/02/21) that Rangers were not happy with.

“They’ve also challenged the Daily Record on something they’ve written and the club is much more proactive in doing that sort of thing. It won’t be changed overnight and I’m delighted to see that the club are at least out there fighting for it.”

Alex Rae, Andy Halliday, Fraser Wishart and Gordon Dalziel are regulars on Super Scoreboard where Derek Johnstone was a fixture till the start of last season.

BBC Scotland haven’t attended an Ibrox media conference since a 2015 fall out with James Traynor but the club’s views are well represented at the state broadcaster by Neil McCann, Billy Dodds, Kenny MacIntyre, Derek Ferguson and Steven Thompson.
