The SFA will issue a statement on Bobby Madden later tonight.

Late this afternoon it was announced that he wouldn’t be taking tonight’s Ross County v Celtic match with Fourth Official David Munro promoted to a full match fee.

Madden was in charge of the Athens Derby last Sunday, returning to Scotland via London beyond the 4am deadline meaning that anyone else would need to pay £1,700 and book into a Quarantine Hotel.

Yesterday his assistant from Athens, Graeme Stewart was on the line for the Hibs v Hamilton match which may now be looked at by the SFA.

The Sun reports:

Madden, 41, was assisted by Scots officials David Roome and Graeme Stewart for the fixture in the Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium. Linesman Stewart worked at yesterday’s clash between Hibs and Hamilton. But Madden will sit out tonight’s fixture, which kicks-off at 7:30pm live on Sky Sports.

The SFA will issue a statement on Madden’s absence later tonight.

Madden has been in charge of six SPFL matches since Lockdown was introduced on December 26 including the January 2 Glasgow Derby at Ibrox.
