Furious Ibrox fans weren’t pleased when Kris Boyd was posted missing from Sky Sports’ coverage of the Celtic match today.

The mix of a sneer and scowl of the former Portland Timers goal ace has been a feature of TV coverage this season with Boyd sharing his anger at recent Celtic matches against Hibs, Livingston and Kilmarnock.

Keeping a lid on his anger over all matters Celtic has always been a problem for the world record goalscorer who managed to find the net just once in his long and distinguished career. Henrik Larsson scored twice against the hoops without gracing a Middlesbrough, Kilmarnock or Eskisehirspor jersey.

At St Mirren on Wednesday John Collins provided constructive criticism of Celtic’s season to date which was appreciated by fans looking in for some explanations over a season that has gone badly wrong.

Being alongside the bland James McFadden made life relatively easy for Shaun Maloney today but the Belgian assistant boss was able to preview then analyse a performance that was flat for long periods but lit up by some moments of brilliance around the goals scored by Odsonne Edouard.

Does Boydy add to the quality of SPFL coverage?

Next Sunday Sky Sports will be covering Celtic’s 7.30pm kick off away to Ross County which is probably a shift most pundits would be happy to miss out on.
