John Kennedy has highlighted the stress that Celtic have been playing under following the 1-0 win over Aberdeen.

If it could have gone wrong it has this season with the hoops trailing by 15 points with delaying the Ibrox title party the only consolation left in a campaign that will be hard to forget.

From the moment news emerged that Boli Bolingoli had taken a quick break to Spain and failed to self isolate the season has been in a tailspin.

Various theories have been put forward but four consecutive home defeats in the autumn, shipping 19 goals in six Europa League ties and losing out to two different Ross County managers is the tip of the iceberg with Neil Lennon resigning in midweek.

Kennedy has had to pick up the pieces with his term in charge beginning with a 1-0 win over Aberdeen thanks to an 8th minute deflected shot from Odsonne Edouard finding the net.

Picking up on his BBC Scotland interview, Glasgow Live reports the Interim Manager saying:

Credit to the players though in the way they defended the box. They dealt with the pressure Aberdeen put on in the second half and put their bodies on the line and blocks in when they had to.

Everyone was working for the cause there and naturally this week has been an emotional week and as much as you come in and want a bit of free flowing football and score as many goals as you can, it’s very unlikely that’s going to happen because of the stress.

You saw the energy going a bit in the second half so I made a couple of changes to try and keep the team fresh and give us something different but credit to them, it’s a tough week to come through but they’ve really pulled together.

They’ve been a massive help to me in terms of coming into this position, they’ve gave me real belief in terms of what we do and in terms of that encouragement everyone is together, now we just need to build on that.

Next Sunday Celtic are away to Dundee United with the Glasgow Derby of March 21 the other pre-split fixture.
