Scott Brown has been offered a two year PLAYING contract by Aberdeen.

The midfielder seems certain to be part of the new look team being put together by Stephen Glass but it seems that the playing aspect is a key part of the package.

Brown will be 36 in June when his Celtic deal expires but with so much uncertainty at the club appears increasingly likely to switch to Pittodrie.

The Sun reports:

ABERDEEN have offered Scott Brown a two-year player-coach deal. SunSport revealed incoming Dons boss Stephen Glass was set to bring in the Celtic captain as his No?2.

Pittodrie chiefs now hope to finalise an ambitious pre-contract deal for Brown in the coming days. Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack has sanctioned a two-year deal for the former Scotland captain, who turns 36 in June.

Brown is set to play a crucial role off the pitch as former Hibs team-mate Glass’ right-hand man in a new management team. The veteran midfielder will also be given the chance to prolong his playing career for another two seasons at Pittodrie.

Glass was announced as the new Aberdeen boss on Tuesday but there was no mention of who will be involved in his backroom team.

Paul Sheerin and Barry Robson were in charge following the departure of Derek McInnes and look like remaining involved until at least the end of the season.

Brown is under a playing contract at Celtic until the end of the season but is free to discuss a contract with any other club.
