Nicky Hammond has resigned from his job as Head of Football Operations at Celtic.

On the back of Peter Lawwell, Neil Lennon and Scott Brown quitting the club it adds to the rebuild that in-coming CEO Dom McKay will have to undertake.

Hammond was brought in as a transfer consultant in the summer of 2019 following the exit of Lee Congerton to rejoin Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City.

After impressing Peter Lawwell with the signings of Boli Bolingoli, Hatem Abd Elhamed and a string of projects from English football Hammond was appointed as Head of Football Operations.

Of the young players brought in by Hammond only Jeremie Frimpong was a success with Lee O’Connor and Jonathan Afolabi failing to get near the first team squad.

Last January Hammond oversaw the arrivals of Ismaila Soro and Patryk Klimala before a disastrous summer recruitment drive salvaged only by the arrival of long term target David Turnbull.

Albian Ajeti, Shane Duffy and Vasilis Barkas added next to nothing to the team with the arrivals of Diego Laxalt, Jonjoe Kenny and return of Moi Elyounoussi failing to prevent a disastrous collapse in the defence of the SPFL title.
