Davie Provan would have Roy Keane take training at Lennoxtown tomorrow morning.

Over the last week there has been intense speculation linking the former Ipswich boss with a return to management.

It seems that Keane is someone that is never far from the thoughts of Dermot Demond despite turning down the chance to manage Celtic in 2014.

A decade out of management seems like the biggest red flag imaginable but in The Sun, Provan writes:

ASKED about his progress in finding a new manager, Dermot Desmond says: “As with any key appointment at Celtic, there is a process which involves research, investigation, interviewing and negotiation.”

Not sure how he squares that with Neil Lennon being offered the job in the Hampden showers after a Scottish Cup final.

Having appointed Brendan Rodgers and Gordon Strachan, Desmond has form and should back his own judgement. He doesn’t need a committee meeting. For what it’s worth, I’d have Roy Keane tomorrow.

Should Roy Keane be the next Celtic manager

No, never. We need to get serious

Keane’s appointment has been promoted by a variety of former players and managers led by Martin O’Neill.

The former Celtic and Ireland boss isn’t a regular on the media circuit but popped up on Sky Sports and Go Radio to promote the ‘candidacy’ of his former assistant.

Had there been a real desire from both parties to get together there have been a few opportunities to get started but with the Scottish Cup starting next weekend interim boss John Kennedy remains in charge.
