Luca Connell and Ryan Mullen have joined Queens Park on loan until the end of the season.

Neither player has played a top team match at Celtic but will get plenty of opportunities when the League Two promotion favourites return to action on Saturday after lower division football was suspended on January 11.

Celtic fans had high hopes for Connell when he was signed from Bolton Wanderers in the summer of 2019 after making 14 appearances in the Championship as a teenager.

Competition for places has been fierce in the Celtic midfield with Connell unable to make the breakthrough and handicapped by the lack of reserve fixtures.

Mullen is well down the list of goalkeepers and had to cut short a loan spell earlier in the season to Ross County when he picked up an injury after less than a month at the club.

Spiders boss Ray McKinnon told the Queens Park website:

I am absolutely delighted to get both deals over the line and get the players in for what is going to be a very busy period ahead.

We have needed cover in the goalkeeping position and have been actively looking for some time so it’s very pleasing to have the opportunity to bring Ryan in.  Luca is a very talented player who is left sided which will give us good balance in the squad and added competition for places. The acquisition of both players really does strengthen the squad for the run in.

Brody Paterson moved on loan to Queens Park at the start of the season but has mainly been used as a substitute.
