After the SFA delayed a punishment for 44 days the club from Ibrox are considering their options after five players were given four match bans.

The delay has allowed Nathan Patterson to step in for the crocked James Tavernier with his suspension scheduled to cover SPFL matches against Hibs and St Johnstone plus two Scottish Cup ties should his team-mates get past Cove Rangers on Saturday.

Back in November Jordan Jones and George Edmundson were given seven match suspensions for similar offences with justice taking 17 days.

When Boli Bolingoli took a trip to Spain Celtic had two matches postponed instantly, 18 days after the news emerged the defender was suspended.

In contrast Patterson, Bongani Zungu, Calvin Bassey, Dapo Mebude and Brian Kinnear have been able to keep on playing for 44 days between getting caught and the SFA deciding to hand out a punishment.

Reacting to the four match bans an Ibrox source told the Daily Record:

We are considering all our options and will make further comment if required

No SFA action has been taken following the multiple breaches of protocol on March 6 and 7 when players and management were screaming out of a dressing room window, boozing in front of fans and car sharing with alcohol being taken.
