Dermot Desmond has revealed that Dom McKay will play a role in the selection of the next Celtic manager.

The next CEO won’t take up his position until July 1 but there is nothing to stop him from having conversations with the current board and the Irish businessman who seems to have the final say in almost everything that the club does.

With the Six Nations ending this weekend there seems to be little reason for McKay to stay on at Murrayfield for another three months but there was no suggestions from Desmond that the switch could be brought forward.

In a Q and A with the Celtic Website published today:

Who is in charge of the process?
The Chairman Ian Bankier, Peter Lawwell and myself take a lead in the process, and naturally, the incoming CEO will also participate. Any decision made will require Board approval.

There was very little given away in Desmond’s interview to give any indication as to which direction the club is moving in to find a new manager.

It is a month since Neil Lennon’s resignation was announced. Dozens of names have been linked with the vacancy but it seems certain that John Kennedy will remain in charge for the Scottish Cup tie on April 3 or 4 at home to Arbroath or Falkirk.
