Whatever the purpose of Dermot Demond’s Q and A with the club website it certainly hasn’t brought renewed hope and trust from supporters. Quite the reverse.

Celtic’s largest individual shareholder, but not majority shareholder, rarely goes public with his comments about the club but after unrelenting criticism across Social Media he decided to go on the record yesterday.

Seven questions with seven answers that added nothing positive to the mood around the club seems to have highlighted how detached the club hierarchy has become.

Other than ‘trust us’ and ‘we know best’ there was nothing for supporters to take confidence from in Desmond’s message.

Supporters were voicing their concerns outside Celtic Park in November as the club went through a run of four successive home defeats. The first time that had occurred since the fifties.

In a bid to show their concerns the club announced a Managerial Review in the new year. Two weeks after Ian Bankier announced that the club wouldn’t make any hasty decisions Neil Lennon resigned.

A month later there is no sign of a new manager, the CEO is winding down towards retirement on July 1 with the club captain expected to announce that he’ll be at Aberdeen next season.
