As a player Kris Boyd’s goal scoring exploits rarely extended outwith Scotland.
When it came to UEFA matches Walter Smith and Alex McLeish tended to leave Boyd sitting in his trackie watching from the bench. During his long playing career Boyd managed to score one goal against Celtic which is one more than he managed in his Champions League exploits.
Internationally his goals came against the Faroe Isles (2), Bulgaria (2 in the Kirrin Cup), Georgia, South Africa and Lithuania.
After showing up his limitations as a pundit covering Scottish football, Sky Sports, in an act of cruelty have given Boyd some midweek slots covering non-Scottish matches. No opportunity to drool over Greegsy or the passing skills of Davo.
Last night he was being paid to watch Real Madrid against Atalanta on BT Sport and relay the action to viewers on Sky Sports News. It should have been a fairly straightforward task but when Sergio Ramos scored with a penalty things became a bit complicated for the former Portland Timbers goal-getter.
Ramos put Real 2-0 in front on the hour mark with a penalty with the Spaniards going on to win 3-1 to go through 4-1 on aggregate.
Kris Boyd is an example of how far @SkySports have fallen as a broadcaster in comparison to @btsport who now very much lead the way #101thgoal ??? that’s embarrassing
