Chris Sutton has pleaded with the Celtic hierarchy to give the fans an idea of their masterplan for the future.

It is 10 days since Neil Lennon’s resignation was announced following a report in The Sun that further increased speculation about what was about to happen.

Within a month the CEO has announced his retirement at the end of June while the manager who seemed determined to oversee a summer rebuild has resigned.

Other than the official statement for each development all that the fans have had was a vague statement from Ian Bankier that no hasty decisions would be made. A week later the chairman had lost his trusted manager.

Lennon’s departure has been met with a void from the club as dozens of names, partnerships, managers and potential Director’s of Football have been put forward.

Dom McKay will replace Lawwell as CEO on July 1 but other than that there are no indicators over what the club has in mind with John Kennedy managing the team on an interim basis.

Sutton has watched the car crash season unfold and told the Daily Record that he is amazed at the lack of clarity, leadership and information from his old club.

Seriously, when will someone in power at Parkhead actually give the supporters a heads-up on what is going on. How bad does it have to get? Rangers lifting the Premiership trophy in your own front garden? That serious?

It might all be over by Sunday and there will be a few supporters who would rather get it over with before the March 21 game. But, really and truly, it doesn’t matter. Celtic’s title has been lost since November and still no-one seems to have awoken from a slumber.

Neil Lennon leaving post managed to take some sting out of the immediate situation, but there’s still a vacuum of information. Listen, I’m not stupid. I’m fully aware Dermot Desmond or Peter Lawwell can’t just invite fans into the stadium for a briefing and list out a load of names and targets to them that they are assessing.

But for goodness sake give your paying customers some sort of information. They want some guidance on what the plan is. If there’s a preferred timescale. For example, when for a manager? Now? Or is it going to be end of this season? We all think it’s end of the term, but no-one has actually said so, to my knowledge.

Last year Celtic launched their Season Ticket renewal campaign on March 6, until a manager is announced it is likely that supporters will hold fire before committing again on the back of a season of complete mismanagement.
