It was a statement/ Q and A that left Celtic supporters utterly baffled.
Given the chance to communicate directly to supporters Dermot Desmond gave the sort of non-answers that politicians specialise in.
Stephen McGowan has a track record going back more than a decade of anticipating the next move that Celtic are about to make. Like most others he was left bewildered by tonight’s tea-time announcement.

A month after Neil Lennon resigned supporters are none the wiser as to how the club is going about finding a successor. Last time around they were informed on a new manager from the showers at Hampden following a Scottish Cup Final win over Hearts.
What process is involved this time around remains a mystery. Very soon the club will be asking fans to buy Season Tickets, it will take more than a ‘trust us, we know what we are doing’ message to earn the trust of supporters after a disastrous season that barely survived into January.
