One month after his eventful move to Marseilles, Olivier Ntcham has played just 71 minutes of football.

The day after the deal was completed for the Celtic midfielder Andres Villas Boas made his feelings very public with the former Chelsea and Spurs boss out the door as Ntcham was settling in.

Last night Marseilles drew 1-1 at home to Lyon with caretaker boss Nasser Larguet leaving the Celtic midfielder in his tracksuit throughout the game.

Marseilles are sitting in seventh place in Lique 1 but Ntcha’s only taste of action came as a 63rd minute substitute away to Bordeaux after two players were set off. Four days earlier he had played the second half of a 2-0 win away to Auxerre in the French Cup.

It was reported at the time of the loan that a fee in the region of £4.5m had been agreed for the summer but with little playing time that looks less likely.

Having Ntcham back for pre-season training in June with 12 months remaining on his Celtic deal would be another issue for the next management team to deal with.
