Adam Montgomery got a taste of first team football at Celtic today when he started in a friendly against Kilmarnock at Lennoxtown.

The 18-year-old played at left-back in a defence that consisted of Jonjoe Kenny, Stephen Welsh and Nir Bitton playing in front of Vasilis Barkas.

Montgomerie was named as a substitute for the matches against Aberdeen and Dundee United but is still waiting for his first taste of competitive action.

Although listed on the Celtic website as a forward it is at left-back that he has caught the eye with an injury to Greg Taylor opening a place in the first team squad.

Diego Laxalt has played in the last two mates with no update on the injury that forced Taylor out of the defeat at Ross County after just 10 minutes.

Celtic raced into a 4-0 half time lead against a Killie side made up mainly of fringe players with John Kennedy playing an entirely different side after the break. James Forrest was also included in the starting XI.
