Charlie Nicholas has claimed that Dermot Desmond has lost his enthusiasm for Celtic.

More than a month after Neil Lennon resigned Celtic are still without a manager with just a bland Q and A on the club website to keep supporters informed.

Desmond isn’t Celtic’s CEO, Chairman, owner or majority shareholder but with a 38% stake in the club nothing major goes through without being run past the Irish businessman.

A season of frustration is being allowed to fester with little sign of urgency about appointing a new manager with the club having to turn to fans soon to get them to renew Season Tickets.

Champions League qualification begins in just over three months with Nicholas echoing the concern of fans as time slips by with Desmond admitting last week that a major overhaul of the squad is required.

Picking up on his column in the Express, the Daily Record reports Nicholas saying:

Desmond received praise when the Hoops appointed Martin O’Neill and then Brendan Rodgers but I don’t see that same urgency now, even though Celtic are hugely vulnerable.

I maintain Dermot – no matter what he claims – has lost his enthusiasm for Celtic. Even if he were to deliver someone like Keane next week, there is still a mountain of work to be done. That is why the fans are rightly pleading for answers… and hope.

Celtic have got five SPFL matches left to play this season with the defence of the Scottish Cup starting on Saturday at home to Falkirk.
