Kemar Roofe has been pictured laughing over Ondrej Kolar moments after planting his studs in the Slavia Prague keeper’s face.

The challenge from the former Anderlecht star sickened BT Sport viewers who knew instantly the seriousness of the injury.

While Kolar’s team-mates urged medical staff onto the pitch Roofe can be seen laughing at the damage he has caused to his opponent.

Unlike a Scottish referee Orel Grinfeeld showed Roofe a red card just six minutes after he had replaced Scott Arfield. Ten minutes later Leon Balogun joined him in the dressing room after picking up his second yellow card.

In 35 domestic matches this season none of Steven Gerrard’s players have been sent off, Roofe and Alfredo Morelos (twice) have been given retrospective suspensions for honest mistakes by SFA referees.

On Friday UEFA launched an investigation into the game at Ibrox, the match delegates were Ray Ellingham from Wales and Neill Morrow from the north of Ireland.
