Former Borussia Dortmund boss Lucien Favre is interested in becoming the next Celtic manager.

The 63-year-old was sacked by Dortmund in December after two and a half years in charge and has a CV  that includes Nice, Hertha Berlin and Borussia Monchengladbach after earning a strong reputation in his native Switzerland.

Stephen McGowan has revealed Favre’s interest with the Daily Mail reporter having a long track record of being very close to the thoughts of the Celtic hierarchy. Last week Dermot Desmond revealed that Peter Lawwell is part of the recruitment process.

Former Borussia Dortmund boss Lucien Favre is interested in becoming the new manager of Celtic. The 63-year-old Swiss coach was sacked by Dortmund in December after a run of poor domestic results. He guided the club into the knock-out stages of the Champions League after finishing top of their group.

Eddie Howe, Roy Keane and Steve Clarke have been the front runners since Neil Lennon resigned from Celtic but Favre has a longer track record than any of that trio and experience of working within different set ups.

Incoming CEO Dom McKay is expected to appoint a Director of Football which would be in line with the continental model that Favre is used to working with.

In recent weeks the former Dortmund boss has been linked with the vacant manager’s jobs at Lyon and Bayer Leverkusen.
