Most major bookmakers have suspended betting on who will be the next Celtic manager after money flooded in on Roy Keane taking charge.
The former Manchester United icon has been out of management for more than a decade but that hasn’t stopped speculation that he was on his way back into the game at Celtic.
Martin O’Neill has been a prominent backer of Keane over the last week with a couple of unexpected media appearances backing up his former Ireland and Nottingham Forest assistant.
Celtic have said nothing since Neil Lennon resigned a month ago but it seems that Keane remains in the small circle of Dermot Desmond despite turning down the Celtic job in 2014 when Lennon first left.
Dom McKay is scheduled to replace Peter Lawwell on July 1 but with Scotland playing their final Six Nations match on Friday night there are no real obstacles to him taking up the post in advance.
