Students of data, statistics and analysis are in for a treat next season with Celtic capable of ending up in any of three European competitions.
The introduction of the Conference is aimed at opening up European football to more clubs but it could be an almighty comedown for any club aiming for the riches of the Champions League to drop into the third-tier competition.
Bhoys Analytics have put in a power of work to drive through the various options to see what could be in store for a new manager with Celtic almost certain to start in the non-Champions route to the Champions League.
After years of being seeded in the champions route Plan B will look very different with Celtic likely to be unseeded in the third and Play Off rounds where they can expect to come up against runners-up from leagues such as Holland or Portugal.
The middle ground would be falling back into the Europa League either directly into the group or with a qualifier or two to play. An early exit from the non-Champions route would lead into the Conference and an unwelcome first of playing in three European competitions in one season.

The likelihood of not attaining this would be a larger failure than what we have seen this season. This is because the top 3 out of 4 teams in the Europa group stage move on to a knockout tie. With 3rd place dropping down to the conference.— Bhoys Analytics (@BhoysAnalytics) March 2, 2021

Coefficient DamageThe damage done by Celtic this season to themselves has been huge, but the long-term effect on our UEFA coefficient will be felt for half a decade. Lennon’s failures mean Celtic will be unseeded as early as the champions league 3rd qualifying round. pic.twitter.com/9y2CbjYHGR

Non-Champions Path Qualifying Round 2These will be in my opinion the most important games of our season. A new manager and a new team can’t afford to fail here as the consequences are dire. Moving through this round ensures direct qualification into the Europa League. pic.twitter.com/fPvTrhBkkv

NC Path QR3After navigating QR2, we will likely find ourselves unseeded, thus making qualification near impossible. However, losing from this round would guarantee Europa League qualification. pic.twitter.com/d5TKEM4bSy

Final ThoughtsFor me just getting through QR2 and securing Europa League has to be the aim for the new manager. I think if we do go out after that stage that at the very least, we have to be competitive and go down fighting
