Celtic fans turned on Nicola Sturgeon after she congratulated the club from Ibrox on winning the SPFL title.
As the tweet was going out to over one million followers thousands of law breakers set off for George Square for an evening of disobedience in full view of Police Scotland.
With the full encouragement of Steven Gerrard and the first team squad thousands had broken social distancing rules in and around Ibrox on Saturday.
By 2pm today it was clear that George Square was going to be a focus for celebrations despite the law-abiding citizens obeying social distancing with 90% of families unable to meet up since Christmas Day.
Public safety, especially during a global pandemic should be the main concern of the First Minister rather than trying to curry support from a sporting event.
As she’ll know from her own Twitter account Sturgeon has alienated a huge number of likely voters- and gained none. The First Minister was brought up in Ayrshire, attending Dreghorn Primary School before moving up to Greenwood Academy.
I congratulate @RangersFC on the title win & recognise what a moment this is for fans. But gathering in crowds just now risks lives, and could delay exit from lockdown for everyone else. If those gathering care at all about the safety of others & the country, they will go home. https://t.co/MjzJJEhhsd

Nicola, care to comment on Rangers fans being given a police escort to George Square today? pic.twitter.com/e7veny5GoS

Nice to know you’re still alive Nicola!! Maybe if you had condemned yesterdays idiotic gathering at Ibrox this wouldn’t be happening today!!! You have put the country at risk with your silence yesterday. That is pretty disturbing.

What a truly pathetic comment. It would have been better if you had said nothing Shame on you

Well you know where you can stick your lock down rules now since they seem to be optional. Lock down is over ?

My husband has said the same, he is a key worker, wearing mask, social distancing and to then see this? It’s disgusting and a total slap in the face.
We said the same when Celtic fans went to Parkhead as well. Why even bother?— LaurenT (@LaurenTee13) March 7, 2021
