With Neil Lennon gone and Peter Lawwell out the door on July 1 a report in The Sun claims that Scott Brown could be the third major figure to leave Celtic Park this year.

The club captain is in his 14th season at Celtic following his record breaking £4m transfer in 2007 but is out of contract this summer.

Brown’s former Hibs team-mate Stephen Glass is among the favourites to replace Derek McInnes as the next Aberdeen boss with The Sun claiming that if Glass gets the job he’ll want Brown in as his assistant.

Glass is good friends with Brown, 35, from their time together at Hibs and wants him by his side in his first foray into first-team management.

For the Hoops skipper, the opportunity to move into coaching at Premiership level, while also still playing, would likely prove too good to turn down.

With his deal up in the summer and big changes set to come over the next few months after the departures of Neil Lennon and Peter Lawwell, a new era will be ushered in at Celtic Park.

When Ronny Deila was in charge of Celtic Brown was involved in coaching the Development Squad on matchdays. Brendan Rodgers put a halt to that when he took charge in 2016 with Brown responding with some of the best football of his career.

With his contract expiring and so much uncertainty around Celtic an offer to coach alongside a close friend is bound to be tempting for Brown who could be out the picture under a new regime at Celtic.

Glass is currently the Reserve Team coach at Atalanta United where Aberdeen chief Dave Cormack has a strong interest. McInnes left by mutual consent earlier this week.

Should Celtic offer Scott Brown a 2 year player coaching deal?

Yes, he must be part of the handover

Brown has never been the most popular visiting player at Pittodrie but that is unlikely to be a factor if he is given a lead coaching role at Aberdeen.
