Nicola Sturgeon suffered a Double Whammy after her ill-advised tweet congratulating Steven Gerrard’s team on winning the SPFL title.
The message of congratulations encouraged thousands to descend on George Square with the Police accompanying them while the rest of the country remains in Lockdown.
At Ibrox on Saturday law breaking was everywhere, backed by the host club as players hung out the dressing room window encouraging fans to gather.
Police Scotland were overwhelmed at Ibrox but that was nothing compared to the scenes in George Square tonight with the city centre under siege.
Serious questions will be asked in the morning, the virus has been given the opportunity to spread with a huge Police bill and clean up to be paid for.
I share folks’ anger at this. Everyone has made so many sacrifices in the past year & seeing a minority risk our progress is infuriating & disgraceful. It is deeply unfair to the entire country, and the police have a hard enough job already. Please ask fans to go home @RangersFC https://t.co/haH5DAzhIh

Too late Nicola. You gave your endorsement by congratulating. You should have outright condemned this action and the club officials and police supporting it. You don’t come close to sharing the anger at this being facilitated. It’s shameful during this period.

The “policing” of the events of the last few days may well have a detrimental effect on what was generally perceived as your core vote. There seems to be a different set of rules when policing the Govan club, idly standing by seems the tactic. Forget your core vote at your peril.

Rangers fans are unionists who wouldn’t vote SNP anyway. She loses nothing by not pandering to them.

After Rangers encouraged them yesterday through the dressing room windows and the players goinv to the stadium gates to celebrate with them, you are asking them to stop their supporters, instead of getting the police to enforce the law.

Escorting huge numbers to join an already huge gathering in the centre of the city with one of the highest Covid rates in the country at a point where we were on the cusp of possibly being able to ease lockdown in the near future.
It’s nonsensical.
