The Union Bears have issued a defiant message that ‘these disruptive policing techniques will not have the desired effect and we will continue supporting Rangers in our unique manner.

That unique manner was witnessed at George Square last Sunday, the previous day at Ibrox and resulted in a brief stoppage of the match at Livingston as fireworks were cleared from the pitch.

It has been reported that Police Scotland have visited the homes of certain fans to ensure that they remain at home on Sunday when the Glasgow Derby is scheduled.

Since the events of last Sunday there has been a concerted effort from the Government, Police Scotland and the football authorities to try and ensure a trouble-free weekend rather than a postponement.

Steven Gerrard sent a letter to fans at the weekend urging them to stay at home but the Union Bears statement suggests that they consider themselves to be above the law.

On Friday Celtic installed barricades around the main entrance to Celtic Park in a bid to prevent damage to club property.
