To almost everyone with the slightest knowledge of life in Glasgow it was entirely predictable, but not to Police Scotland or Nicola Sturgeon.

On Saturday, hosted and assisted by the club itself, thousands broke Lockdown in full view of the police with the details widely available across Social Media.

Steven Gerrard joined in by car sharing to ensure that there was a video to record his arrival at the stadium. Afterwards players raced to a gate to interact with fans, Gerrard and others opened a dressing room window to celebrate with fans out of their own social bubble and mixing with hundreds of others.

Incredibly that warning wasn’t taken on board. Police Scotland effectively advertised for a rallying point in George Square then accompanied fans from various areas to mix with others at the very heart of the city. Sturgeon added her congratulations but soon she was being informed of the chaos she had invited.

Questions will be asked about incredible judgement calls, why it was permitted and assisted and who meets the bill for policing and the clean-up bill.

With an election two months away Sturgeon has done her party and many hard working MSP’s no favour by trying to curry favour. As a child the First Minister attended Dreghorn Primary followed by Greenwood Academy in Irvine.
