Video: Stunning solo goal from Edouard sends France towards Euro Finals

Odsonne Edouard added to his incredible scoring record with a 38th minute goal for France in their European Championships tie against Iceland.

The Celtic striker put his side 2-0 in front on route to six points from their three matches and a likely place in the quarter-finals to be staged in May.

Edouard went into tonight’s match with 12 goals from 11 appearances in the competition, picking up on his scoring rate at u-17 level having largely missed out on playing at u-19 level.

France lost their opening match against Denmark then bounced back to beat Russia 2-1 with Edouard opening the scoring from the penalty spot.

In the other group match Denmark were leading Russia 2-0 at half-time which would see the Danes progress on full points with France qualifying as runners up.

UPDATE: France won 2-0 and Denmark 3-0, both nations go forward to the quarter-finals.

John Kennedy will be keeping a close eye on his strikers’ fitness after three matches in seven days, Celtic begin their defence of the Scottish Cup on Saturday at home to Falkirk.
