Vakoun Bayo continued his recent scoring run with the final goal for Toulouse in their 4-0 home win over Chambly.

The on-loan striker came off the bench in the 65th minute then show great confidence to slot home a shot from the front post with four minutes left to play.

Being a super-sub in the French Second Division isn’t likely to revive his Celtic career but with his contract expiring in June 2022 there should be some interest in Bayo this summer.

Yesterday’s goal was Bayo’s fourth since the turn of the year, improving his stats to six goals in 1011 minutes of play, starting 11 matches and appearing as a substitute in a further 11.

Bayo joined Celtic in the fateful January 2019 transfer window that also saw Timo Weah, Oli Burke, Marian Shved, Jeremy Toljan, Andrew Gutman and Manny Perez sign up. Before the end of February Brendan Rodgers left for Leicester City.

Toulouse are looking in a strong position to bounce back into the top flight, sitting in joint second place, three points behind leaders Troyes after 29 matches.
