West Lothian is paying the price for hosting street parties following the Glasgow derby on March 21.
Despite Scotland being in Lockdown hundreds of fans flocked to the centre of Armadale to celebrate a 1-1 draw 35 miles away.
The build up to the match was marked by messages from both football clubs as well as the authorities asking fans to stay at home but in Armadale and other outposts those warnings were ignored.
While infection rates across Scotland taper off the figures in West Lothian buck the national trends as the NHS has to deal with the consequences of the March 21 law breaking.
Earlier in the month 36 Police Scotland officers had to self isolate following the unlawful celebrations in George Square.
Rangers supporters take over Armadale 9 days ago and yesterday West Lothian goes off the charts in terms of positive case numbers.
For the Scottish Government, The SFA and Rangers FC there’s obviously no connection between those two things pic.twitter.com/QnPPO7A5Q5— Paul Newton ?????????? (@paulofthenewton) March 29, 2021
So disappointed that fans in Armadale in my Constituency didn’t listen to the direct appeals from @RangersFC to stay at home after the game and not gather. Armadale has worryingly high Covid infection rates just now and this breach of regulations puts police and others at risk.

The SNP has given Rangers fans a green light to breach lockdown, numerous times… as long as the fans gather in numbers to celebrate.
Too late doing anything now.

This is what happens when the Labour leader of the council states West Lothian is unionist & the police do absolutely nothing about this. They know they can get away with anything & that is worrying.
