After starting just 12 matches for Celtic, Ismaila Soro is apparently a transfer target for Tottenham.

Like Celtic the London club are currently managerless but in the world of recruitment it seems that it is business as usual when it comes to preparations for buying and selling.

The midfielder was signed during the January 2019 transfer window but had to wait until December before making his Celtic debut in the Europa League tie against Lille.

That opened the door to a mini run in the Celtic side including a January 2 start at Ibrox but over the last few months Scott Brown has been back in favour alongside Callum McGregor.

The Daily Mail reports:

Tottenham are monitoring Celtic midfielder Ismaila Soro. The 22-year-old was a £2.7million signing from Israeli side Bnei Yehuda in January last year but barely figured under former manager Neil Lennon.

That hasn’t dissuaded Tottenham though who recognise the Ivory Coast-born Soro as a holding player of talent who could bolster their squad.

Soro has been viewed by many fans as a likely successor for Brown but if the report is accurate it seems that the word has gone out that everyone at Celtic is available.

Since the turn of the year Jeremie Frimpong, Hatem Abd Elhamed and Patryk Klimala have been sold, this week there have been reports linking Vasilis Barkas and Vakoun Bayo with moves away from Celtic.

Soro’s fee from Bnei Yehuda was widely reported to be £1.5-2m at the time.
