Alex Rae believes that Ryan Kent is worth £25m!

The former St Mirren boss has been out of management since September 2016 but is never shy about sharing his opinions with Radio Clyde and BT Sport regulars to benefit from his views on the game.

Kent moved to Ibrox in September 2019 in a deal reported to be costing £7m with no interest from English clubs after he had spent a season on loan under Steven Gerrard.

Since Gerrard took over at Ibrox there has been fanciful talk of massive bids coming in for players but only Josh Windass, Daniel Candeias and Greg Docherty have been sold for a combined total of just under £3m.

Wheeler dealer Ross Wilson has failed to find any interest in the stars working under Mister Gerrard but picking up on a podcast The Sun reports Rae anticipating big money for the 24-year-old winger.

Speaking to the Ten10 podcast, he said: “If £14 million is what Leeds were looking to roughly pay, I think he’s gone again. Looking at the stats this year, his performance levels, the European performances.

“I would say £25m plus, without a doubt. The modern day player? You have a guy who is 24 who has all of his best years ahead of him. I just think with the performances, there will be a few people knocking at the door and I think it is a big year.

“We raised certain questions about Kent in periods through the season in terms of stats. In his last nine games, he has five goals. He now has 12 goals and 13 assists. He has contributed in 25 goals this season. He still has a long way to go, but those are impressive stats.”

Kent is under contract until May 2023, despite the calls from Gary McAllister he has yet to be called into the England international squad.
