Patryk Klimala has completed his transfer to New York RB, no fee has been mentioned at the American end.

The striker joined Celtic in the January 2020 transfer window for a reported fee of 4m euros but managed just three goals and was never a regular in the team.

His arrival from Jagiellonia of Poland coincided with Leigh Griffiths hitting form with Celtic winning 28 points from 10 matches to clinch the title as Scotland went into Lockdown.

The New York RB website states:

“We’re delighted to complete this deal and welcome Patryk to our club,” said Head of Sport Kevin Thelwell. “Patryk is a talented young forward who has proven that he can score goals and create in a variety of ways. We believe he has the ability to impact games in MLS now, and the potential to continue to grow and succeed in years to come. We look forward to welcoming him to New York and getting him acclimated to our club.”

With Leigh Griffiths out of condition and Odsonne Edouard injured Neil Lennon opted to play Ryan Christie as a striker in the fateful Champions League qualifier against Ferencvaros.

It looked like Klimala might be in for a fresh start when John Kennedy selected him to play alongside Edouard in his first game in charge against Aberdeen but for the next two matches he was on the bench.

The striking positions will be something of a priority area for Celtic’s next management team. Odsonne Edouard is expected to leave, Celtic have until April 30 to add a year onto Leigh Griffiths’ contract with Albian Ajeti missing from the 20 players on duty at Aberdeen mast night.
